PTU- Spellbound Wallpaper

*Click for bigger

This is a bit of a different kind of tutorial.
We're going to make a Halloween desktop background,
though one can change the sizes to make a tag, if preferred.;)

For this tut I do use Eye Candy Perspective Shadow.
Unfortunately I am unable to get 'good' settings for
the drop shadow to replicate the Perspective Shadow

This tutorial is borne from my own manipulated lil' mind.
Any similarity to any other tutorial(s) is purely coincidental.
This tutorial was written for those who have a working
knowledge  of PSP and was written using PSP XI,
tho' any version should work.

Supplies Needed:
Scrapkit: I'm using an awesome PTU kit from
Tasha's Playground, named Spellbound.
You can find more info about it here.

Tube: I'm using an awesome Halloween tube from
the one & only Keith Garvey.
You can find his tubes in his store here.
Do NOT use this artwork unless you have a license to
do so & have purchased the tube.

Filters: Xero- Radiance
Eye Candy Impact- Perspective Shadow
Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow

Fonts: Demon for the wordart
Eency Weency Spider for the name

Drop shadow: 25 -10 50 5, black for the tube, skulls & bottle.
2 -4 50 5, black for some elements.
Save your progress often.;)

Let's do this! =)

New canvas depending on your screen size.
Mine is 1280 x 800 px.

Select all. Copy paper9 & paste into selection.
Select none.

Next, add a new layer. Select all again.
Copy paper10 & paste into selection.
Modify- Contract by 10. Hit delete & select none.

Add a new layer. Flood fill black. Select all again.
Modify- Contract by 1. Hit delete & select none.

Next, add your main tube. Resize as needed.
Apply Xero-Radiance at these settings:
Then add your drop shadow.

Now it's time for some elements to create more of a scene.
For each one I added, I sharpened & added a
drop shadow to, unless specified otherwise.;)

For the Perspective Shadow on some elements, I used
Wide Perspective Shadow in Front at these settings:

gates- Drop shadow- 2 -4 50 5
lock- 30%. Duplicate & link them.
Move one below the gate in layers palette.
Erase a bit of the hasp on the lock.
Drop shadow the bottom one- 2 -4 50 5.

pitchfork- 70%. Use your eraser to carefully remove parts
of the pitchfork to make it look like it's behind the fence.
Changing the opacity to 50% to do this works.;)
Then erase part of the bottom of the pitchfork to shorten it a bit.
Change the opacity to 65%. No drop shadow.

web- 30%. Edge effects- Enhance.
NO drop shadow. Duplicate & mirror.
Resize this one another 80% and enhance again.

spider- 23%. Rotate 25 left.
Place on the spiderweb on the left.
Drop shadow- 2 -4 50 5

tree- 70%. Place this 'behind' your tube.
No drop shadow.

skull3- 37%. Drop shadow on a new layer.
Use the same drop shadow as the tube.
Erase the shadow that shows up behind the skulls.

ghost eyes- 35%. Drop the opacity down to 50%.
No drop shadow.

bottle3- 35%. Perspective Shadow

bottle2- 37%.
Use the same drop shadow as the tube.

coffin- 50%. Use your distortion tool to move it
slightly so it lies flat. Drop Shadow.

black cat- 35%.
Perspective Shadow

bats- 45%. Drop shadow- 2 -4 50 5
bird- 25%. Drop shadow- 2 -4 50 5
lantern- 50%. Perspective Shadow

Next, add your proper copyrights & watermarks.

Now, type out 'Spellbound'. Add a bevel:
Then add a gradient glow:
Then add your drop shadow- 2 -4 50 5

Next add your name. Add a gradient glow:
Then add your drop shadow- 2 -4 50 5

Finally, merge visible & save as a PNG.
I hope you enjoy your new desktop wallpaper.
I'd love to see any of your results. =)
